HCMC – Four vaccine developers active in Vietnam are speeding up the development and production of the Covid-19 vaccine, stated Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long at a conference discussing the Covid-19 vaccine development and production, which was held this morning, July 22, in Hanoi.
Among the four developers, the Institute of Vaccines and Medical Biologicals (IVAC) based in Nha Trang City joined hands with American and Indian scientists to produce the vaccine on IVAC’s available technological production line, which was certified by the World Health Organization.
Long revealed that the country will set up a vaccine foundation to facilitate access to the Covid-19 vaccine aimed at protecting local residents from the virus.
Moreover, the Health Ministry will reduce the time needed to appraise and test the Covid-19 vaccine but still ensure its quality in an attempt to deploy the vaccine to the locals soon, the head of the national health authority stated.
He added that Vietnam is one of the 42 countries that can develop and produce vaccines and is among 38 vaccine manufacturers that meet the standards of the World Health Organization, which comprise favorable conditions for the production, development and export of vaccines.
