HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has approved a nine-day holiday for Lunar New Year (Tet) in 2025, scheduled from January 25 to February 2, according to local media reports.
The decision, based on recommendations from the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, includes five official Tet days and four additional weekend days.
Workers will officially have time off from January 27 to January 31, corresponding to the 28th day of the lunar month of the Year of the Dragon (2024) to the 3rd day of the Year of the Snake (2025). The inclusion of adjacent weekends brings the total holiday period to nine days.
The ministry noted that the extended break aims to support worker well-being while also promoting domestic tourism, which is expected to contribute to economic growth.
