HCMC – Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC is handling an upsurge in passenger traffic as revelers have begun returning to the southern city after the long Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet.
On February 1, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, the airport is projected to handle 945 flights, including 472 departures and 473 arrivals.
These figures reflect the total passenger count of 146,328, including 88,816 arriving. Many passengers are returning to work next week, starting February 3.
Despite the increased volume, particularly in the domestic arrival and international departure areas, airport operations remain smooth and security is maintained. Officials anticipate peak arrivals this evening and tomorrow, February 2, the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.
On January 31, the airport accommodated 889 flights with 136,730 passengers.
From January 14 to February 12, Tan Son Nhat is projected to receive 26,033 flights with an estimated 4,028,000 passengers.
