HCMC – The UK is committed to sharing its expertise in medical innovation, digital health, and workforce development as Vietnam accelerates its digital transformation and healthcare modernization, according to discussions at a forum held on March 17.
The Health Innovation Business Forum brought together over 165 healthcare leaders, policymakers, researchers, and businesses from Vietnam and the UK to explore the latest advancements in digital health, medical technology, and life sciences.
In his opening remarks, Marcus Winsley, British Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam, reaffirmed the UK’s strong commitment to strengthening healthcare partnerships with Vietnam.
“The UK and Vietnam share a long history of collaboration in healthcare, spanning policy dialogue, research partnerships, and trade. As Vietnam and HCMC accelerate their digital transformation and healthcare modernization, the UK stands ready to contribute its expertise in medical innovation, digital health, and workforce development,” he stated.
Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Health, emphasized that the forum serves as a significant milestone in advancing cooperation between Vietnam and the UK, further strengthening partnerships in HCMC’s healthcare sector.
The event featured UK healthcare organizations and companies, which introduced their services and medical technologies to the Vietnamese market.
A key highlight was the panel discussion on “Innovation, Investment, and Partnerships: Unlocking Vietnam’s Healthcare Potential”, where UK experts shared insights drawn from successful healthcare models in UK cities like Liverpool.
The forum also covered a range of important topics, including digital transformation in healthcare, medical innovations and R&D, and strategies to enhance operational efficiency and workforce development—all aimed at building capacity for healthcare innovation in Vietnam.
With the UK being home to world-leading institutions in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and digital health, the forum marked an important step in strengthening UK-Vietnam partnerships, fostering healthcare innovation, and improving public health outcomes.
