HCMC – Saigon Times Group will organize a health workshop in HCMC on April 3, aiming to equip parents with essential knowledge to recognize, intervene, and prevent psychological disorders in adolescents.

The workshop titled “Mental Health of Adolescents: Recognition, Intervention, and Prevention” comes amid rising concerns over youth mental health.

According to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 13% of adolescents aged 10-19 worldwide are currently living with a mental disorder.

The “Comprehensive study on school-related factors impacting mental health and well- being of adolescent boys and girls in Vietnam,” published by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training, shows that 15-20% of Vietnamese adolescents have struggled with mental health issues. Academic pressure, family expectations, and social stress are driving factors behind the crisis.

Led by Dr. Pham Minh Triet, a pediatric mental health specialist with nearly 20 years of experience, the workshop will explore why adolescents are particularly vulnerable to mental disorders, most commonly known as depression.

It will provide an open dialogue between experts and parents of children with psychological disorders, as well as equip parents with a deeper understanding of adolescent mental health, early warning signs, and effective prevention strategies.

Participants will also gain practical guidance on supporting their children through communication, observation, and professional intervention.

The workshop will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Hall A, Saigon Times Group’s headquarters, 35 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, District 1.
