HCMC – The Hanoi City People’s Council has approved an investment policy for the Ngoc Hoi Bridge project and its access roads, at a total cost of over VND11.8 trillion, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The project has a total length of around 7.5 kilometers, including 5.4 kilometers in Hanoi and 2.1 kilometers in Hung Yen Province.

According to a proposal from the Hanoi People’s Committee, the main bridge over the Red River will be about 680 meters long and 32.3 meters wide, with six lanes for motor vehicles and two mixed-traffic lanes.

The bridge will start at the endpoint of the Beltway No. 3.5 section connecting Phuc La–Van Phu with the Phap Van–Cau Gie Expressway, located about 360 meters from the expressway toward the right bank of the Red River in Hanoi’s Thanh Tri District.

It will end at another point on the beltway, roughly 700 meters from the left bank of the Red River in the direction of the Hanoi–Haiphong Expressway, in Van Giang District, Hung Yen Province.

The completion of Beltway No. 3.5 and the Ngoc Hoi Bridge will establish a direct link to Hung Yen and enhance connectivity with Hanoi’s radial road network.

This is expected to facilitate traffic by reducing the need for vehicles traveling from the north and northwest to the southeast to pass through the city center, thereby alleviating congestion on key roads such as Beltway No. 3, Giai Phong Street (National Highway 1A), and Road 70.

The Hanoi People’s Council has also approved an investment policy for a project to build a road connecting Tu Lien Bridge and the Hanoi–Thai Nguyen Expressway.

The project has a preliminary investment of over VND5 trillion sourced from the state budget and is scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2027.
