HCMC lights up in celebration of Reunification Day

HCMC – Tens of thousands of residents and visitors packed the downtown streets of HCMC last night, April 30, to witness a dazzling fireworks display marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation (April 30, 1975 – 2025).
Crowds begin gathering as early as 5 p.m. along the Saigon River, at Bach Dang Wharf Park, and on nearby streets, eager to secure prime viewing spots
Traffic surges throughout the evening, especially around Le Duan Boulevard and Nguyen Hue pedestrian street
As part of the city’s largest-ever fireworks show, 30 launch sites are set up across all districts, including two high-altitude locations and 28 lower-altitude zones, enabling residents citywide to enjoy the fireworks display
At exactly 9 p.m., fireworks light up the sky, coloring the night with brilliant patterns for roughly 15 minutes
Spectators take the opportunity to capture memorable photos with friends and family during the April 30 fireworks celebration

Before the fireworks display, the city hosted a series of cultural performances to enhance the festive atmosphere. At 7 p.m., the lively energy surged as the ‘Singing with the Young City’ captivated large audiences on Le Duan Boulevard. Meanwhile, a mounted cavalry unit from the mobile police force paraded along Nguyen Hue, thrilling onlookers with synchronized formations and equestrian skills. Additionally, a striking 3D mapping show was projected on the facade of the City Hall.

The city’s celebration also included symphony and choral performances, traditional don ca tai tu music, sports demonstrations, and a lantern boat parade along the Saigon River.
