HCMC – Vietnam consistently views the consolidation and development of Vietnam-China relations as an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top priority in the country’s overall foreign policy, State President Luong Cuong said.

State President Luong Cuong held talks with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on September 4, on the occasion of his presence at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the world people’s victory over fascism and engagement in bilateral activities in Beijing.

The two heads of state expressed their delight at the positive progress in Vietnam-China relations in recent times, particularly following the mutual visits by General Secretary To Lam and Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping in two consecutive years, 2024 and 2025.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on directions and major measures to further deepen their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and to build a Vietnam-China community with a shared future of strategic significance in the coming time.

President Luong Cuong proposed that the two sides continue to strengthen high-level and multi-level exchanges, particularly among key sectors such as diplomacy, defense, and security; enhance the effectiveness of theoretical research exchanges; and vigorously promote substantive cooperation.

He emphasized priority areas including science and technology, innovation, high-quality human resource training, and accelerating strategic transport connectivity with a focus on railway cooperation.

The Vietnamese leader proposed that both sides work to foster a favorable atmosphere for the overall bilateral relationship, which has been progressing positively.

He suggested strengthening friendship promotion and organizing people-to-people exchanges so that the peoples of both countries, especially the younger generation, can better understand the tradition of Vietnam-China friendship.

Appreciating President Luong Cuong’s cooperation proposals, Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping agreed to step up high-level and multi-level exchanges, enhance the sharing of experience in Party building and state governance, and effectively implement the meetings of the Bilateral Cooperation Steering Committee and the 3+3 strategic dialogue mechanism.

Xi proposed that the two sides soon convene the first session of the Joint Railway Cooperation Committee, strengthen collaboration in emerging fields and continue implementing activities under the Year of People-to-People Exchange.
