HCMC – Vietnam’s 16th National Assembly (NA) will hold its first sitting from April 6 to 24, with 11 working days scheduled.
The sitting will decide on key state leadership positions, including State President, Prime Minister, National Assembly Chairman, vice chairpersons of the National Assembly, deputy prime ministers.
Lawmakers will also review organizational and personnel matters, nine draft laws and resolutions, and five groups of issues covering socio-economic development, finance, the state budget, oversight, and other key matters. Nine additional groups of issues will be submitted for deputies’ review.
The schedule was outlined at a March 26 meeting chaired by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to prepare for the meeting, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
National Assembly Secretary General Le Quang Manh reported that preparations are largely complete.
Tran Thanh Man said that relevant agencies have reviewed all complaints and petitions following the NA election to ensure compliance with regulations before finalizing results.
The National Election Council is expected to adopt a resolution on March 27 to confirm the eligibility of 500 deputies elected to the 16th National Assembly.
