Two more provinces to inspect procurement of Covid test kits

HCMC – Aside from HCMC, two Mekong Delta provinces have announced that they will launch inspections into the procurement of Covid-19 test kits.

Yesterday, January 5, Nguyen Van Duc, chief inspector of Kien Giang Province, said the province had decided to look into joint ventures and cooperation deals involving medical services and the procurement of medical supplies and Covid test kits at hospitals and clinics across the province in 45 days, local newspaper reports said.

During the period, inspection teams will inspect hospitals and clinics under the provincial Health Department, the Kien Giang Center for Disease Control, those under the management of the provincial government, and entities and individuals involved in the procurement, supply and donation of medical equipment and test kits.

Those subject to the inspections include the provincial General Hospital, the Traditional Medicine Hospital, and the Oncology Hospital.

Specifically, the teams will inspect the operations of joint ventures and cooperation agreements linked to medical services from 2019 to 2020. Regarding the procurement of medical equipment and test kits, they will inspect these activities from 2020 to 2021.

Duc said the inspection teams would clarify issues related to the procurement of Covid-related medical supplies between the provincial health authority and the Viet A Technology Corporation.

In September last year, Ha Van Phuc, director of the provincial Health Department, reportedly represented the department to sign a contract on procurement of medical supplies and Covid test kits with Viet A, at a total value of over VND60 billion.

The same day, the inspectorates of Bac Lieu Province made the same move, with the inspection lasting 70 days. Entities subject to the inspection include the provincial Health Department, the Bac Lieu Center for Disease Control, hospitals and medical centers throughout the province.

The team will focus on inspecting the Bac Lieu Center for Disease Control’s procurement of test kits from Viet A.
