HCMC – The Ministries of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Health, Foreign Affairs, Transport and National Defense have jointly proposed fully reopening the tourism sector from March 15.
At a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on February 15, the ministries proposed removing all mobility restrictions and allowing eligible tourists to enter Vietnam, the local media reported.
Tourists to Vietnam do not need to register for tours. They will only need to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination or recovery and negative Covid-19 test results, including those found through quick tests.
Children aged 12 and older must get two Covid vaccine shots.
The ministries also suggested Vietnam exempt visas unilaterally for citizens from 13 countries and bilaterally for people from 88 countries and territories as in the pre-pandemic period.
International guests entering Vietnam through airports must undergo Covid-19 tests at the airports if they show symptoms, while immigrants will undergo Covid tests at border gates.
All foreign tourists must install and activate medical control apps and be covered with Covid travel insurance.
Until March 14, the second phase of a pilot program to welcome international tourists will continue.
As for the domestic tourism segment, localities will serve guests in line with the Covid transmission risk levels.
