HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has completed assessing an application for setting up IPP Air Cargo JSC.

The documentation of the airline establishment, including plans to operate and increase capital, proof of the firm’s funding sourced from local investors and contracts, meets all regulations as provided by the Government’s Decrees 30, 89 and 92, said deputy head of CAAV Dinh Viet Son.

CAAV has guaranteed several air safety supervisors from now until 2025. The authority currently has 13 air safety supervisors and will add three more in the coming months to supervise 449 aircraft in 2025.

IPP Air Cargo, whose chairman is businessman Johnathan Hanh Nguyen, would use B737 and B777 freighters for cargo transport. The Flight Safety Standard Division of the CAAV will also work with Boeing to supervise these Boeing freighters in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization’s standards.

In addition, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam said that it could provide five aprons in Hanoi, HCMC, Danang, Nha Trang and Can Tho for IPP’s freighters at night in the first year of its operation.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation also announced that it would offer relevant services to IPP Air Cargo’s flights, the local media reported.

CAAV proposed the Ministry of Transport consider the result of the appraisal for IPP Air Cargo’s documentation to establish a cargo airline to soon grant a license to the firm.

The country’s aviation market is gradually recovering after the pandemic. Air routes linking Vietnam and over 20 countries and territories have been resumed, according to CAAV.

After flight frequency restrictions were removed, local airlines restarted nearly all domestic air routes, with 700-800 daily domestic flights.

In 2022, the number of air passengers through local airports is expected to amount to 42-47 million, rocketing 170%-200% year-on-year.
