An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) is committed to being a responsible retail bank by focusing on social welfare while ensuring sustainable business operations. These efforts are deepened through practical activities with long-term impacts aimed at various groups, fostering happiness and support for people in need nationwide. ABBANK focuses its resources on healthcare, education, and environmental protection/rural development.

Healthcare support

ABBANK has consistently supported healthcare initiatives, especially for pediatric patients.

In June 2024, the bank launched “Trao yêu thương – Nhận nụ cười” – a charity program at the Pediatric Department of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases. The project renovated the “An Binh House and Storybook Library” playground, offering young patients a colorful and therapeutic environment. At the handover ceremony, Lai Tat Ha, ABBANK’s Deputy CEO and Chairman of the Trade Union, said that the bank hopes this will be a meaningful gift, boosting children’s morale and speeding up their treatment and recovery.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, ABBANK sponsored medical equipment to the Pediatric Center of Hue Central Hospital and provided in cash and in kind support to 10 disadvantaged child patients and Mid-Autumn gifts to 150 others being treated there. The warm gesture brought them joy and hope, helping them gain mental strength to overcome their illnesses.

In earlier efforts, ABBANK had organized various medical support for hospitals and the community, such as sponsoring the construction of a playground at the National Children’s Hospital’s Orthopedic Department in Hanoi, donating a Laser scalpel for Cho Ray Hospital, and covering surgery costs for children with cleft lips and palates.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, ABBANK promptly supported the epidemic prevention and control work across the country through various forms of support to the vaccine fund, financial support, donation of ambulances, donation of ventilators, support of food supplies for hospitals, health care for ABBANK staff and relatives… with a total budget of more than VND35 billion.

Education support

ABBANK prioritizes education support for disadvantaged children by providing scholarships and facilities such as building schools and libraries.

In partnership with the NGO Room to Read (R2R), ABBANK implemented the “Friendly Library” program for 14 primary schools in Lam Dong, providing over 51,000 books to 10,000 students. The initiative extended to Haiphong, where ABBANK donated 53,135 books and educational materials to more than 10,600 students and teachers.

ABBANK has been a longstanding sponosr of “Cap la yeu thuong” program organized by VTV Digital. In its role as a “Dai La lanh” ABBANK aims to support many underprivileged students – “La chua lanh” by providing them with motivation to rise above their circumstances, nurture their dreams of education.

In addition, ABBANK builds/renovates school facilities in disadvantaged localities across the country through collaborating with Dan Tri newspaper to fund the construction of classrooms at the Ethnic Minority Boarding School in Lai Chau Province, replacing old, dilapidated structures; building school facilities in Ninh Binh, Gia Lai, Ha Giang… with a total budget of more than VND6 billion.

Paying attention to career guidance and building high-quality human resources for the Bank and society, ABBANK launched the “An Nghiep” project in 2022 which provides scholarships for final-year students who excel academically and aspire to work in the banking sector. The project also includes ABBANK Tours to help students gain insights into banking operations. The scholarship fund awarded hundreds of million dong to students from eight universities.

Of note, in September this year, ABBANK launched a fundraising campaign to build boarding houses for students in Son La Province through its internal cultural event, the “Journey of Thousand Miles – Journey of Thousand Dreams”. The program aims to encourage staff to participate in sports (walking/running, swimming, and cycling) to raise funds to build schools for children in mountainous areas, and at the same time, helping improve the physical and mental health of ABBANKers.

“Journey of Thousand Miles – Journey of Thousand Dreams” is the first triathlon event held by ABBANK. It encourages employees to push their limits and raise funds to build schools for children in mountainous areas

Sustainable development

Recognizing the importance of sustainable development, ABBANK is committed to promoting green credit policies and integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards into its business decisions. The bank has been collaborating with domestic and international organizations to evaluate environmental risk management in lending activities, aiming to support businesses in achieving green growth.

ABBANK’s efforts to promote environmental protection are evident in the “Green An Bình – Green Vietnam” project, which contributes to the Government’s goal of planting one billion trees. As part of the initiative, over the past four years, ABBANK has continuously implemented various campaigns to encourage people to plant hundreds of thousands of trees in protective forests across the country, while also raising awareness about forest conservation, climate change adaptation, and sustainable development. Through the years of implementation, “Green An Binh – Green Vietnam” has spread, inspired and promoted the spirit of ‘joining hands’, contributing and sharing among the community, customers as well as nearly 4,000 ABBANK staff nationwide.

In the “Green An Binh – Green Vietnam”  2024, ABBANK donated 50,000 hardwood seedlings to residents in Quang Binh Province and provided New Year gift packages to dozens of disadvantaged households.

“Green An Binh – Green Vietnam,” launched by ABBANK from January 29 to March 31, 2024, successfully raised funds for 50,000 large trees. This initiative received strong support from ABBANK employees, customers and the community to help families in need in Quang Binh Province

ABBANK is also an active enterprise in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters: the bank promptly donated VND500 million to post-Yagi storm recovery efforts through the Vietnam Fatherland Front. In 2023, in partnership with Geleximco Group, ABBANK has built 200 prefabricated houses for police officers in remote, storm-affected areas of the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam, along with many houses of gratitude and houses for people with meritorious services.

In recent years, ABBANK has invested hundreds of billion dong in impactful social welfare activities, delivering long-term value to the community. As part of its long-term development plan, ABBANK is dedicated to sustainable growth in both business and charitable efforts. Alongside education and healthcare support, ABBANK will also focus on enhancing financial literacy to empower individuals in managing and protecting their personal finances.
