HCMC – Vietnam has around 7,000 projects facing legal and procedural bottlenecks that authorities aim to resolve in the third quarter of 2026, a National Assembly leader said.

The figure was cited by National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh at a voter meeting in Khanh Hoa Province on April 28, following the 16th legislature’s first sitting.

He said the Government is seeking parliamentary approval for a special resolution to address obstacles affecting these projects. Provinces and cities are required to compile lists of problematic projects and propose specific solutions for each case within the third quarter.

Authorities will handle violations based on where they occur, while ensuring balanced and lawful interests for affected citizens, he said. Removing project bottlenecks is seen as a key measure to support stronger economic growth.

At the meeting, voters raised concerns about land clearance, resettlement arrangements, and delays in project implementation procedures. Issues related to specific developments, including the Nha Trang airport and Bac Hon Ong projects, were also mentioned, along with prolonged suspended planning cases.

Voters also called for improvements in lawmaking quality and more focused oversight, with clearer accountability for agencies and individuals. Others urged more comprehensive healthcare policies for the elderly, including easier access to insurance-covered medical services.

Dinh said local authorities should proactively address public concerns early and at the grassroots level.

Separately, the National Assembly plans a nationwide supervisory review on the use of public office buildings following administrative restructuring, aiming to prevent waste of state assets.
