HCMC – Vietnam now allows the import of additional aircraft models certified or recognized by the aviation authorities of Brazil, Canada, Russia, the United Kingdom, and China, according to the Government news site.
The Government issued Decree No. 89/2025/ND-CP on April 13, 2025, revising regulations on the types of aircraft permitted for import into Vietnam.
Accordingly, aircraft eligible for import into Vietnam must hold a type certificate issued or recognized by one of the following authorities: the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), or the civil aviation authorities of Brazil, Canada, Russia, the United Kingdom, China (CAAC), or by Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction.
Previously, Vietnamese regulations did not permit the import of aircraft from certain countries, as only those certified by the FAA, the EASA, or the Vietnamese aviation authority were eligible for import.
The Ministry of Construction said that such restrictions limit airlines’ access to aircraft designed and manufactured by other countries with globally recognized capabilities in science and technology.
Based on practical needs in the aviation sector, the ministry assessed that amending the regulation would enable Vietnamese airlines to take greater initiative in securing aircraft supply and operating their fleets. It would also help strengthen international cooperation with traditional partners.
