HCMC – All residents aged over 18 in eight districts in HCMC—- Districts 1, 5, 6, 7, 11, Phu Nhuan, Cu Chi and Can Gio— received their first shot of the Covid vaccine, according to data released by the city’s Covid portal yesterday, September 8.
Meanwhile, some other districts recorded a low vaccination rate for those over 18. Tan Binh District has administered the first dose to nearly 238,000 people, meeting some 63% of the target. In District 8, around 240,000 people over the age of 18 have been given the first dose, or nearly 73%. Similarly, Binh Tan and District 10 have achieved 76% and 77% coverage, respectively.
According to the HCMC Department of Health, the city inoculated nearly 189,000 people on September 7.
Overall, since the city began its Covid vaccination campaign from March 8 to September 7, it had administered more than 6.8 million doses, with around 708,000 people being fully vaccinated. The city also had also given the Chinese-made Vero Cell vaccine to over 1.4 million people. All of them were reportedly safe after vaccination.
Regarding the city’s Covid situation, the city has reported more than 266,000 cases to date, with 460 being imported cases.
The city is providing medical treatment to around 42,000 patients, including over 3,000 children under 16 and 2,800 severely ill patients.
On September 7, hospitals citywide discharged over 5,100 patients who recovered from Covid, sending the city’s total in the year to date to approximately 133,500 recoveries. Moreover, 253 new deaths linked to the coronavirus were confirmed on the same day.
The city is making efforts to achieve 100% first dose coverage for all residents aged over 18 by September 15, said Nguyen Hoai Nam, deputy director of the city’s Health Department.
