For An Cuong Wood-working Materials Company, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a mission integrated into its business development strategy, and for years, the company has conceived and realized numerous initiatives to support the community and contribute to social development.

“At An Cuong, our mission is not only to create stable jobs for thousands of people and contribute to economic development, but also to make valuable contributions to the community, helping disadvantaged children and underprivileged people,” says the company’s Chairman Le Duc Nghia.

For children’s welfare

Over the past few months, An Cuong has been busy participating in or organizing activities to support children across the country.

Specifically, the company on December 16 joined forces with the organizer of the 17th Spring for Children Festival in Hanoi to support children with difficult family backgrounds, donating VND500 million to the program to provide healthcare and education assistance for children.

On December 20, the company handed over two water filtering systems at two primary schools in Tan Phu District of Dong Nai Province, with an aim to safeguard children’s health, contributing to the development of the community in the district.

Also in late 2023, An Cuong in collaboration with the Vietnam Children’s Fund donated VND200 million worth of scholarships and learning devices to students at two junior highschools in the northern province of Phu Tho.

Most recently, An Cuong in early April was honored at a special function organized at the HCMC Children’s Hospital for having accompanied the hospital in helping child patients survive critical illnesses by making generous donations.

In fact, An Cuong has for years made strong contributions, in cash and in kind, to help children in difficult circumstances, improving their physical conditions and helping them continue education.

Earlier, the company signed an agreement with the Vietnam Children’s Fund to donate VND2.5 billion in the 2022-2026 period to improve healthcare and education for children from poor households. In June last year, An Cuong donated VND200 million to children in Dong Nai Province via the locality’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs. The company’s representative noted that the donations were aimed to help build a better future for children.

Other social initiatives

In its journey to make contributions to the community, An Cuong has also sought to help disadvantaged people integrate themselves to the society. The company has contributed VND1 billion towards the establishment of Nghi Luc Song Joint-stock Company, which is a social enterprise headquartered in Hanoi with a mission to provide training to disabled young people and other disadvantaged people so that they can land a job to support themselves.

This company has plans to operate between 10 and 20 centers and business facilities in the first five years since its inception in late 2022 to provide career guidance and training to the disadvantaged.

In its journey of nearly-30-year development, An Cuong Wood-working Materials Company has always managed to hold its community spirit aloft. The company has integrated social responsibility to its business development strategy, considering it the foundation for sustainable development.

It has also managed to contribute to environmental protection. For example, on March 23, 2024, the company collaborated with the not-for-profit organization Gaia Nature Conservation, mobilizing its employees to plant 2,000 trees at Ben En National Park in Thanh Hoa Province in response to the national campaign to cope with climate change, protect the water resource and mitigate natural calamities.

Owing to its relentless efforts to promote sustainability, An Cuong Wood-working Materials Company has been conferred with many awards and prizes to this effect, including the Top Ten Building Material Companies, the Top 50 Sustainable Businesses, the Top 50 Vietnam the Best, and HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia Awards 2023, among others.

In an encounter with The Saigon Times, Nguy Thanh Vi, director of Smile of Hope Foundation under An Cuong, said that the community spirit has been nurtured as part of the company’s corporate culture and is inspired in all departments and employees.

To make social fulfillment a CSR target for all the company’s management and staff, the leadership has reiterated that community programs are not owned by the company’s leaders, but all the employees. Each year, the company earmarks a budget for community programs, and employees are encouraged to conceive and propose ideas on how to support the community, Vi said.
