HCMC – Pham Thai Ha, assistant to the chairman of the National Assembly (NA), has been detained for his alleged involvement in the Thuan An Group bribery case, said local news reports.
Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), said this morning, April 22, that the ministry’s investigation agency detained Pham Thai Ha for alleged charges of abusing his power and position to influence others for personal gains.
Ha had been serving as deputy head of the NA Office and assistant to the NA chairman since May 2022.
The Supreme People’s Procuracy ratified the prosecution decisions, while police searched his residence and workplace today, April 22.
This is the latest development in the police’s investigation into signs of violations of bidding regulations and bribery at Thuan An Group and other organizations.
In connection with this case, Nguyen Duy Hung, chairman of Thuan An Group JSC, was arrested on April 15 on alleged charges of violating bidding rules and giving bribes.
Other senior executives of Thuan An Group, including Tran Quang Anh, the company’s general director, and Nguyen Khac Man, deputy general director, were also arrested on the same charges.
Hoang The Du, Nguyen Van Thao, and Dam Van Cuong as officials of the Management Board of Traffic Project Construction Investment in Bac Giang Province were also detained for alleged charges of violating bidding regulations and taking bribes.
Lieutenant General Xo said that currently, the ministry’s investigation agency is expanding the investigation, clarifying the violations of the suspects, and misconduct at Thuan An Group JSC and related units and organizations.
