HCMC – Bao Loc Pass, a major mountain pass leading to Dalat City, has been reopened to traffic after a two-day closure caused by a deadly landslide that was blamed for the deaths of three policemen and one resident on July 30.

The local authority cleared the soil and rocks from the road, as well as flattened the slope to mitigate the risk of more landslides in the area behind the Madagui traffic police station.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. today, August 1, the local authorities have permitted traffic to pass through Bao Loc Pass. Trucks will be given priority to travel through the pass, followed by other types of vehicles.

Tran Van Hiep, chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee, said that the reopening of the pass must prioritize the safety of those who drive through it.

The landslide struck Bao Loc Pass on the afternoon of July 30, burying the Madagui traffic police station and leaving three traffic policemen and one resident dead.

The landslide caused Bao Loc Pass to be blocked from the afternoon of July 30 until today. Vehicles on the way to Bao Loc and Dalat City had to take alternative routes via National Highways 55, 28, and 28B.
