HCMC – Elena Rodovskaya, first vice chairwoman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists (BUJ), visited the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) office in HCMC on September 23.

Rodovskaya was welcomed by VJA Vice Chairman Tran Trong Dung and senior association members at the HCMC office of VJA. Her visit was part of the “Minsk Days in HCMC” event and the Belarus-Vietnam Business Forum.

During the meeting, Rodovskaya emphasized Belarus’s focus on digital transformation in journalism and expressed interest in learning from Vietnam’s media practices, particularly in digital and multimedia journalism. With over 2,000 members, the BUJ is keen to enhance collaboration through joint online forums and training exchanges with Vietnamese journalists.

The two associations signed a cooperation agreement in 2022 to promote cooperation in media and journalism, aiming to strengthen ties and facilitate knowledge exchange between journalists from both countries.

Rodovskaya also noted that the People’s Committee of HCMC and the Executive Committee of Minsk signed a cooperation program for 2024-2026 on the same day. This agreement seeks to bolster trade, economic, and cultural ties, following a 2008 bilateral friendship agreement.

In a follow-up activity on the same day, the VJA arranged for Rodovskaya to experience a ride on a vintage Minsk motorcycle from District 1 to the VJA office in Tan Binh District. The motorcycle ride was led by lecturer Dang Minh Khoa at the HCMC Architecture University, who is a member of the Minsk motorcycle club in HCMC.
