Binh Dinh gives green light for forming steel plant, int’l port projects

Must read

HCMC – The government of Binh Dinh Province has given the green light for surveying and studying a steel plant and international general port projects in the province’s Phu My District.

Specifically, the Long Son Company based in Ninh Binh Province had earlier asked for approval from the authorities to study the two projects of developing the Long Son steel plant and the Long Son International General Port, reported Bnews.

According to its proposal, the steel plant will cover an area of nearly 494 hectares and require VND48 trillion in investment, churning out some four million tons of steel products per year.

The international general port will cover 343 hectares, with 140 hectares of water surface for building 14 50,000-250,000-ton berths that can handle 29.5 million tons of various goods per year. The project’s total investment is estimated to reach some VND8.8 trillion.

The projects are expected to make use of favorable natural conditions in coastal areas in the district’s My An Commune, such as deep water and stable terrain. Meanwhile, the current seaport system in this central province can handle vessels of up to 50,000 tons only and there are no steel plants.
