HCMC – The relevant agencies in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province have been told to work out a compensation policy and quickly proceed with site clearance for the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway project.
Nguyen Cong Vinh, vice chairman of the provincial Government, today, July 7, signed a dispatch on drawing up a general plan to execute the first phase of the project.
The provincial Department of Transport has to work to establish a steering committee for the expressway section passing through Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the relevant agencies were tasked with jointly working on procedures to develop the compensation and resettlement policy and implement the site clearance work.
The Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway’s total length is around 54 kilometers, with 19.5 kilometers of it in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and the rest in Dong Nai Province.
Last month, the National Assembly passed a resolution to develop the first phase of the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway project with a total investment of nearly VND18 trillion.
The Government proposed work on the project start in 2023 so that it could be opened to traffic in 2026.
On May 17 this year, a working team led by Nguyen Minh Son, vice chairman of the National Assembly’s Economic Committee, surveyed the locations through which the expressway project will pass.
According to an official in Dong Nai, more than 30 hectares of land of thousands of households and many organizations in Bien Hoa City and Long Thanh District must be cleared to make room for the project. Of them, around 2,000 households need to have resettlement homes.
In Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the compensation and resettlement costs to serve the project are an estimated VND1.3 trillion, and hundreds of hectares of cleared land are needed.
