HCMC – Despite the difficulties triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic, as part of its annual scholarship program for students with poor family backgrounds but outstanding academic performances, CJ Group this year granted 100 scholarships to students from the elementary to university levels on December 16 in Lam Dong Province.

Also, in line with the anti-pandemic directions of the prime minister, the Group did not invite all the students to the scholarship award ceremony, but only representative students.

The event was attended by Phan Van Da, vice chairman of the provincial government; Chang Bok Sang, CEO and chairman of CJ Group in Vietnam, and other local officials.

Speaking at the ceremony, the chairman of CJ Group in Vietnam said, “Under any circumstances, CJ Group always focuses on social activities. Social dedication is a way that we seek to repay the trust of the people of the host country. In particular, social contribution in the field of education is very important because this is the root of creating talent for the country.”

From 2013 until now, CJ Group has granted more than 800 scholarships to disadvantaged students in this Central Highlands province. This year, the scholarships are estimated to be worth VND412 million, which is given directly to the students to help with their tuition and living expenses.

The Group’s annual scholarship sponsor for the local poor but gifted students is one of its long-term and stable educational sponsorship activities in Vietnam.

Since 1998, with the establishment of a representative office in HCMC, CJ Group has expanded to more than 17 business lines, including foods and food services, bio, logistics, entertainment and media, producing animal feed and livestock, breeds and fresh meat. As of 2019, CJ Group had invested some US$900 million in the Vietnamese market.
