Confirmed Covid case compels over 1,100 Pouyuen workers to stay at home

HCMC – As the husband of a worker of Pouyuen Vietnam Co., Ltd, which is located in HCMC’s Binh Tan District, tested positive for Covid-19, over 1,100 workers of the firm have been told to temporarily stay at home and self-quarantine.

The worker whose husband has the coronavirus was then sent to a concentrated quarantine center, awaiting her Covid-19 testing result, Kim Vinh Cuong, vice president of the firm’s Labor Union, told Thanh Nien newspaper today, June 9.

According to Cuong, the female worker works for the firm’s sewing workshop which was put on lockdown and disinfected.

The HCMC Center for Disease Control (HCDC) was collecting samples from around 1,100 workers of the workshop for testing. After having their samples taken, these workers were told to self-quarantine and monitor their health condition at home.

Cuong added that the company has taken Covid-19 response measures.

Pouyuen Vietnam operates in the garment and footwear sector, employing some 60,000 workers, the highest figure for a single employer in HCMC.
