HCMC – Danang has approved a plan to invest more than VND200 billion in developing computing infrastructure to support research and design of semiconductor chips and artificial intelligence (AI).
The project will be located on the second floor of the ICT Building’s Data Center at the Software Park No. 2 in Hai Chau Ward. Implementation is scheduled for 2025–2028, with funding drawn entirely from the city’s budget, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The Danang People’s Committee said the initiative comes as computing power has become a key factor shaping global competitiveness in the semiconductor and AI era.
As part of its vision to become a regional hub for high technology and innovation, the city has issued several resolutions and policies to strengthen human resources, infrastructure, and businesses in AI and semiconductor industries.
The new project aims to build a high-performance computing (HPC) system to provide a strong technological foundation for these goals.
Once completed, the facility is expected to attract more investment and support startups in semiconductors and AI at Software Park No. 2. It will also enhance collaboration with local universities in research and training related to chip design and AI technologies.
