HCMC – Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam ordered all levels of authority to maintain a strong sense of responsibility and remain extremely cautious over the possible resurgence of Covid-19, to ensure the country’s achievements in containing the virus were not in vain.

The Deputy PM said that the pandemic in many parts of the world is yet to be contained, and more serious outbreaks could occur in the winter in areas where Covid-19 preventive measures have been relaxed, according to a document recently issued by the Government Office.

He asked the competent agencies to strictly comply with regulations on Covid-19 infection prevention and control and to request all the people entering Vietnam to make health declarations, remain in quarantine and monitor their health after completing the mandatory quarantine period.

Besides, the Health Ministry was urged to develop a health monitoring system for people entering the country. Local authorities have to direct medical and police forces to control and monitor the health conditions and travel of people entering their areas, in line with anti-pandemic regulations.

The Health Ministry and the local authorities were told to direct healthcare centers and nursing homes to strictly follow Covid-19 safety protocols. Any facility with unsafe Covid-19 preventive measures must be suspended, the deputy head of the Government said.

Further, the Health Ministry and the local authorities were also asked to facilitate the issuance of electronic medical records for local residents, identify groups of people who are the most vulnerable to Covid-19 to prioritize offering medical treatment to them and bolster the launch of telemedicine services.
