Vietnam is striving to attract foreign investors to develop its nascent semiconductor industry. However, this opportunity can only be realized if the demand for human resources is adequately met. This requires a race against time in training efforts and substantial government investment. The race against time to develop human resources The Ministry of Education and Training is actively collaborating with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to finalize the Project on Developing Human Resources for the Semiconductor Industry by 2030, with a vision towards 2045. This project outlines specific tasks and solutions. The goal is to train 50,000 high-quality personnel for chip production, a significant number given that there are currently about 26,000 students in electronics and telecommunications fields across the nation. If we can make 20-30%, with some schools potentially attracting 40-50%, of these students switch to semiconductor chip production, and enroll new students in 2024 when more specialized programs in microchip design are launched (an estimated 5,000 new university students could be enrolled immediately in 2024), it will be a substantial number to meet the goal.
