HCMC – The southern province of Dong Nai is expected to require around VND1 quadrillion in investment capital to fund infrastructure and socio-economic development projects through 2030, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

This estimate is part of the province’s newly issued implementation program for the Dong Nai master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

According to the plan, Dong Nai will need some VND478.2 trillion for the 2021-2025 period and another VND525.5 trillion between 2026 and 2030. Public investment is projected to make up roughly 20% of the total.

The program aims to translate the master plan’s development objectives and strategies into five-year and annual socio-economic development plans, as well as public investment plans at both provincial and sectoral levels.

The provincial government said it would also develop mechanisms to attract private investment and mobilize non-state funding, in addition to allocating public capital. Land use plans at the provincial and district levels will be aligned with industrial, service, and urban development priorities for each phase.

A list of prioritized investment projects has been released, covering a wide range of sectors. Key projects include industrial parks and clusters, a concentrated IT park, innovation zones, high-tech agriculture, expressways, the Long Thanh International Airport, the proposed Bien Hoa dual-use airport, and the Cat Lai Bridge. Infrastructure for logistics, energy, waste-to-power, water supply and drainage, and urban development is also part of the investment portfolio.

Dong Nai targets average annual gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth of around 10% during 2021-2030. By 2030, the province aims to become one of the country’s top high-income localities, with GRDP per capita reaching around US$14,650.
