HCMC – Dong Nai Province plans to break ground on 14 social housing projects in the first quarter of this year, offering tens of thousands of apartment units, according to the provincial Department of Construction.

The department said on January 28 that most of the projects have completed required legal procedures, while several are still undergoing construction design appraisal.

Earlier this month, the province launched construction of three social housing projects in Phuoc An Commune and Long Hung Ward, providing nearly 6,000 apartments.

The upcoming projects are mainly located in Nhon Trach, Trang Bom, Phuoc An, An Phuoc, Phuoc Tan Ward and Long Hung Ward. Major developments include a worker housing complex in Nhon Trach, a social housing project in Long Hung, and the ChC1 and ChC2 social housing complexes in Phuoc Tan.

According to the Department of Construction, 2026 marks the first time Dong Nai has simultaneously launched multiple social housing projects at the beginning of the year. The developments aim to address housing demand while supporting sustainable economic growth.

The province targets completing more than 8,000 social homes in 2026 and around 65,000 units during the 2026–2030 period.

To accelerate implementation, Dong Nai plans to continue allocating cleared land aligned with urban planning, ensure connectivity to technical and social infrastructure, and streamline administrative procedures. A priority fast-track mechanism will remain in place for social housing projects, with authorities working closely with developers to resolve bottlenecks during construction.

According to the provincial government, Dong Nai was assigned to build more than 4,200 social housing units in 2025. The province completed over 4,600 units that year, exceeding the target by 12%.

Officials attributed the results to sufficient land allocation, faster legal processing and administrative reforms that cut approval time by half, reflecting the province’s focus on expanding affordable housing for workers and low-income households.
