HCMC – A Dutch manufacturer of chip equipment has received approval to lease a factory at Saigon Hi-tech Park (SHTP) in HCMC with an initial investment of nearly US$5 million.

The management board of SHTP granted an investment registration certificate to BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. on the afternoon of November 2, as part of the Vietnam-Netherlands High-Tech Business Forum in Hanoi.

Nguyen Anh Thi, head of SHTP’s management board, said that BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. specializes in manufacturing, trading, and providing semiconductor production equipment and services to leading multinational microchip manufacturers and electronics companies.

The project has an operational period of 50 years.

Starting from the fourth quarter of this year until the end of 2024, the investor will install machinery, equipment, and hire workers for its factory. By the first quarter of 2025, the factory will be operational.

According to Nguyen Anh Thi, this marks the first step for BE Semiconductor Industries N.V. to assess the business environment in Vietnam before the company decides to expand investment.

The Dutch firm’s move is expected to positively contribute to the economic and social development of Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular. It will create job opportunities for Vietnamese workers and aid in training a team of technicians in the semiconductor field.
