HCMC – Tran Viet Nga, head of the Food Safety Department under the Ministry of Health, has been charged with taking bribes, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
The ministry said on August 29 that the case involves bribe giving and taking at the Food Safety Department and related companies.
Investigators found irregularities in file reviews and the issuance of certificates for advertising health supplements.
On August 28, police pressed charges against 10 individuals. Nga, deputy division head Tran Thi Thu Lieu and Nguyen Thi Hai Ha were detained for taking bribes.
Three other officers were banned from leaving their residences for the same charge, while five others were charged with giving bribes.
Police also searched 15 locations linked to the suspects, including their homes and offices.
