HCMC – Several high-ranking military leaders in southern Vietnam have been disciplined for violations over the mismanagement of land.
The Central Inspection Committee said in a statement that it had taken action against Major General Nguyen Hoang, 63, former commander of the 4th Corps, and Senior Colonel Nguyen Trong Luong, former chief of staff at the 4th Corps Command.
The 4th Corps is one of the four regular army corps of the People’s Army of Vietnam and is stationed in Di An District in the southern province of Binh Duong.
Meanwhile, Major General Pham Lam Hong, 62, former vice chief of staff at the 2nd Military Region based in Binh Duong Province, was reprimanded.
The top inspection committee also urged the Party Secretariat to take disciplinary action against Lieutenant General Duong Duc Hoa, 65, former commander of the 2nd Military Region.
These officials were accused of having violated the principles of democratic centralism, working regulations and laws on land use and management.
The watchdog also upheld the expulsion of Senior Lieutenant Colonel Bui Tien Loi, dean of the Scientific Socialism Faculty at the School of Military Officers, from the Party, as he was found to have written posts and made statements on social media that were counter to the Party’s and State’s stance and guidelines.
He displayed a “serious degradation of political ideology” and behavior of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation”, making it easier for hostile forces to sabotage the Party and the State.
