HCMC – Foxconn Singapore PTE Ltd will develop the Fukang Technology plant project at the Quang Chau industrial park in the northern province of Bac Giang to manufacture and assemble tablets and laptops, report VietnamPlus news site.
The provincial government held a ceremony today, January 18, to present investment registration certificates to four foreign-invested projects, including the factory of Foxconn, with total registered capital of nearly US$570 million.
The Fukang Technology project’s pledged capital is over VND6.3 trillion, equivalent to US$270 million. The facility is expected to manufacture some eight million products per year.
The general director of Foxconn Vietnam was quoted by VietnamPlus as saying that the total amount of capital that the Foxconn Group had invested in Vietnam as of December last year reached US$1.5 billion, with US$900 million of it being poured into Bac Giang, which offered jobs to over 35,000 employees. The contract manufacturer is set to invest an additional US$700 million in the province this year and employ 10,000 more employees.
The leader of Foxconn Vietnam pledged to implement the project in line with the prevailing regulations and hoped to receive support from the local authorities for its operations in the province.
Speaking at the event, Le Anh Duong, chairman of the provincial government, affirmed that the northern province will provide the best support in terms of infrastructure and services for investors. The province will facilitate administrative procedures for investors to soon execute their projects.
The chairman also asked investors to implement their projects as registered. They have to align their investment and business operations with environmental protection, prioritize applying advanced technology in production, pay attention to building a corporate culture and developing a proper relationship between employers and employees, offer opportunities to employees to level up their skills and create a safe working environment.
