HCMC – The Hochiminh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) has approved margin trading for GEE shares of GELEX Electricity JSC, removing it from the restricted list.
The company moved its listing from the Unlisted Public Company Market (UPCoM) to HOSE in August last year, with an initial reference price of VND37,150 per share.
As of February 14, 2025, GEE had been traded on HOSE for six months, meeting eligibility requirements for margin trading.
Closing the trading session today, February 21, GEE edged up 2.82% over the previous session to VND54,600 per share. The stock has jumped around 65% within a month. It was priced at VND33,100 per share on January 23.
With 202 winners and 208 losers, the VN-Index rose 3.77 points, or 0.29%, to 1,296.75 points on Friday, supported by bank stocks, while the HNX-Index of the Hanoi Stock Exchange ended lower after eight straight winning sessions.
Trading volume on the southern market reached more than 770.7 million shares worth VND16.29 trillion, down 4% in volume and 2.2% in value over the session earlier. Block deals accounted for nearly 73 million shares worth VND1.47 trillion.
Lenders VCB and CTG were the biggest contributors to the main index’s gain, each rising over 1.5% and closing at their session highs. Together, they added more than 2.7 points to the index. Other large caps also advanced. BCM climbed 3.5%, MWG added 2.5%, and BVH rose 1.9%.
The VN30 basket, which groups the 30 largest-cap stocks, saw 11 decliners. FPT and VIC lost the most, with each inching down 0.7%, which trimmed around 0.3 points from the benchmark index.
The banking sector made gains. Besides VCB and CTG, many other stocks ended slightly higher. VPB was the most actively traded stock, with 42.3 million shares changing hands. SHB followed with 23 million shares, and MBB recorded 20.5 million. ACB and HDB both exceeded 10 million shares in trading volume.
Securities and steel stocks showed little movement. VIX closed at its session high of VND11,300, up 0.4%, boasting the sector’s highest trading volume of 29.4 million shares. SSI rose 0.4% on volume of 11.6 million shares. VND dropped 0.4% with 13.2 million shares traded.
The HNX-Index dipped 0.45 point, or 0.19%, to 237.57 points, ending an eight-session rally. Market breadth was even, with 88 stocks advancing and 89 others declining. The northern market saw 66.4 million shares worth VND976.5 billion changing hands.
