HCMC — The German Business Association (GBA) marked its 30th anniversary at the German Ball 2025, bringing together 330 guests to highlight three decades of German business activity in Vietnam.
German Consul General in HCMC Andrea Sühl attended the event along with Hungarian Consul General in HCMC Gábor Lehőcz, Swiss Consul General in HCMC Werner Bardill, and Tran Xuan Thuy, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Foreign Affairs. Former GBA leaders and representatives from several international business chambers also joined.
Sühl noted that 2025 marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Vietnam and said the two countries have expanded cooperation across multiple sectors. She highlighted GBA’s role in supporting economic ties.
GBA Chairman Alexander Ziehe said the association has grown from a small group of German business executives in 1995 to the largest European business network in Vietnam, now representing more than 400 members. He acknowledged the contributions of former leaders and partners.
The event featured a tribute to founding members, former chairpersons, and long-serving staff. Guests participated in a quiz on GBA’s three-decade history in Vietnam.
Organizers highlighted GBA’s activities in trade, investment, and cultural exchange, as well as its support for high-level visits and major business events. The association also provided assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The evening included cultural performances and community activities. GBA said it will continue supporting German–Vietnamese business cooperation.
