HCMC – Domestic gold prices declined on the morning of April 29, with SJC-branded gold bars dropping by up to VND1.5 million per tael from the previous session, while the U.S. dollar at commercial banks edged up slightly against the Vietnamese dong.
At Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), SJC-branded gold bars were quoted at VND163 million per tael for buying and VND166 million for selling, down VND1.5 million from the close on April 28. ACB listed gold at VND163.5 million for buying and VND166.5 million for selling, down VND1 million. Mi Hong raised its buying price by VND200,000 to VND164.2 million while keeping the selling price unchanged at VND166 million. Phu Quy quoted gold at VND163 million for buying and VND166 million for selling, down VND1.5 million.
Gold ring prices also declined by VND1.5 million per tael. Phu Quy quoted gold rings at VND162.5 million for buying and VND165.5 million for selling. DOJI listed prices at VND163 million for buying and VND166 million for selling.
Globally, gold traded at around US$4,580 per ounce, down US$20 from the same time in the previous session, after falling more than US$40 to US$4,560 per ounce during the U.S. trading session on April 28.
On the same morning, the State Bank of Vietnam set the central exchange rate at VND25,113 per U.S. dollar, up VND2 from the previous day.
At commercial banks, the U.S. dollar picked up. Vietcombank quoted the greenback at VND26,138 for buying and VND26,368 for selling, up VND2 from the close on April 28. ACB lowered its buying price by VND10 to VND26,160 and raised the selling price by VND2 to VND26,368.
