HCMC – The northern city of Haiphong surpassed other cities and provinces, such as HCMC, Hanoi and Binh Duong, to attract the largest foreign investment in 2021, according to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Last year, foreign investors poured capital into 59 localities nationwide. Of them, Haiphong attracted over US$5.26 billion, nearly 3.5 times higher than the figure in 2020 and accounting for 16.9% of the country’s total foreign investment.
Long An was second with US$3.84 billion, followed by HCMC with nearly US$3.74 billion.
South Korean firm LG Display raised its investment in Haiphong twice last year, by US$750 million and US$1.4 billion, increasing its investment in the city to US$4.65 billion and becoming the biggest investor in Haiphong.
Meanwhile, Regina Miracle International Vietnam Co., Ltd revised its investment in the city up by US$100 million and Flat Vietnam Co., Ltd injected an additional US$75 million in the city.
