Hanoi receives proposals for investment cooperation worth over US$26 billion

HCMC – The municipal government of Hanoi received 36 proposals for memorandums of understanding (MoU) over investment cooperation valued at some US$26.079 billion as of June 22, according to the city’s top official.

These MoUs are expected to be signed at an upcoming investment promotion conference titled “Hanoi 2020 – Investment Cooperation and Development”, which is slated for June 27 at Hanoi’s National Convention Center.

Of the 36 proposals, 23 were from local enterprises, while the other 13 were from foreign companies and organizations, municipal Party chief Vuong Dinh Hue told a meeting held on June 22 to review preparations for the conference.

At the conference, the capital city will call for investments in 116 projects, with total capital exceeding VND339 trillion. These projects will be mainly in the fields of urban housing, office buildings, travel-services, finance and banking.

Apart from that, Hanoi will call for investments in 282 projects, which failed to find investors at the previous editions of the event, with total capital reaching an estimated VND483 trillion.

As for preparations for the conference, the Hanoi Promotion Agency said that some 540 companies including 120 foreign firms have confirmed their participation to date. The event is expected to attract 1,400-1,500 participants.
