HCMC – The Hanoi City Party Committee has approved the overall adjustment of Hanoi City’s construction master plan until 2023 with a vision to 2050, in which two satellite cities will be developed, the local media reported.
One city will be located to the north of the Red River, comprising the districts of Me Linh, Soc Son, and Dong Anh, while the other is expected to encompass the Hoa Lac Urban Area and Xuan Mai Town.
The two satellite cities will help fuel socio-economic development in the northern, eastern, and western areas of Hanoi, Hanoi City Party Committee Secretary Dinh Tien Dung told a conference on November 23.
The local authority will draw up appropriate plans to develop the economy, in association with the promotion and preservation of traditional cultural values in rural areas, including the districts of Phu Xuyen, Ung Hoa, My Duc and Ba Vi.
In addition, functional units will consider upgrading Son Tay Town to a city in the future.
According to the master plan, by 2030 Hanoi will have eight additional districts, including Hoai Duc, Gia Lam, Dong Anh, Thanh Tri, Dan Phuong, Thanh Oai, Thuong Tin, and Me Linh.
