HCMC – Hanoi City has welcomed nearly 15 million visitors in the first five months of 2026, generating an estimated VND62.77 trillion in tourism revenue, the city’s Department of Tourism reported.

The capital city received around 14.98 million visitors between January and May, up 17.2% from a year earlier.

International visitor arrivals rose 28.1% to 4.06 million, while domestic visitors increased 13.7% to 10.92 million.

The city’s accommodation sector also expanded during the period. Hanoi City had 3,761 lodging facilities with more than 71,200 rooms as of May 2026. Average occupancy reached 65.7% in the first five months, up 2.6 percentage points year-on-year.

The Tourism Department attributed the growth to promotional campaigns and tourism events organized by the city.

Among them was the Hanoi Tourism Festival 2026 held at Thong Nhat Park. The event attracted nearly 80,000 visitors to cultural, culinary, craft village and digital technology activities.

In digital transformation efforts, the city is promoting projects such as a digital culinary tourism map and a mini app on the Zalo platform, while developing smart tourism platforms for management and visitor services.

For 2026, Hanoi targets 9.04 million international visitors and 27.27 million domestic travelers, with tourism revenue projected at around VND160 trillion.
