HCMC – The People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City on April 18 approved the investment policy for a central square and an administrative center with a preliminary cost of about VND29.6 trillion.
At its session today, the council also approved changing the investment model for the city’s planned symphony, music and ballet theater.
The central square and administrative complex will cover about 46.72 hectares in An Khanh Ward, within the core area of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, and will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP).
The new administrative center will have a total floor area of around 272,000 square meters, accommodating about 8,000 staff and serving roughly 2,000 residents and businesses daily through a one-stop service system. Green space, water features, and parks will account for more than 60% of the project area.

Meanwhile, the council approved shifting the symphony, music and ballet theater project, designed with 1,700 seats and an estimated cost of over VND1.5 trillion, to a privately funded project. The theater will be relocated to a site adjacent to the administrative center to ensure alignment with zoning plans for the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.
