HCMC at low risk of Covid transmission for two consecutive weeks

HCMC – As of January 13, HCMC remained at low risk of Covid transmission, the HCMC government stated while announcing Covid risk levels in line with the Government’s Resolution 128 and the Ministry of Health’s Decision 4800 on January 15.

This is the second week the city is at low risk of Covid community spread, according to the announcement.

Thu Duc City, a jurisdiction under HCMC, and 18 districts — 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Tan, Binh Thanh, Cu Chi, Go Vap, Hoc Mon, Phu Nhuan, Tan Binh, Tan Phu and Binh Chanh — were at low risk.

The remaining three districts, 1, Can Gio and Nha Be, were pegged as moderate risk, the local media reported.

Compared to last week, Can Gio and Nha Be districts upgraded their pandemic transmission risk from low to moderate, while District 10, Binh Thanh District and Thu Duc City lowered their risk level from moderate to low.

Between January 7 and 13, the city reported 3,122 Covid infections, down 122 cases week-on-week, according to the HCMC Department of Health.

As of January 14, all people aged over 18 in the city had got at least one shot of the Covid vaccine, while the city saw over 88% of people aged over 50 fully vaccinated against the disease.
