HCMC – The HCMC Department of Transport has proposed fare rates for the upcoming Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line, with ticket prices ranging from VND6,000 to VND20,000, reported the local media.

The proposal has been submitted to the city’s People’s Committee for approval. Single-trip fares will vary based on payment method: cash fares will start at VND7,000, with a maximum of VND20,000 per ride, while non-cash payments will be slightly discounted, ranging from VND6,000 to VND19,000.

The metro line will also offer unlimited-use passes, with a one-day pass priced at VND40,000 and a three-day pass at VND90,000. Monthly passes will be available for VND300,000, with a discounted rate of VND150,000 for students.

The department is also seeking approval to exempt certain groups from fares, including veterans, seniors, and children under six when accompanied by an adult. For the first 30 days of operation, the city plans to fully subsidize fares for all passengers and for 17 connecting bus routes.

The Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line, under construction since 2012, spans 19.7 kilometers and includes three underground and 11 elevated stations. The line, which will operate 17 trains with a capacity of 930 passengers each, is expected to begin service in early 2025.
