HCMC – Nguyen Van Hieu, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, member of the HCMC Party Committee, and secretary of the Thu Duc City Party Committee, has been picked as new deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee for the 2020-2025 tenure.
Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, has signed a dispatch approving a proposal to assign Hieu to the post.
Earlier, the HCMC Party Committee’s Executive Board on June 4 convened a meeting voting for Hieu to take charge as deputy secretary of the municipal Party Committee.
Hieu, 46, a resident of the central province of Binh Dinh, had held various key posts. He served as standing vice secretary of the HCMC Communist Youth League from 2007 to January 2009, secretary of the HCMC Communist Youth League from February 2009 to 2012, member of the HCMC Party Committee and secretary of the Party Committee in Districts 2, 5, and Thu Duc City, among other posts.
