HCMC plans to put first metro line into service in Q4

HCMC – The HCMC People’s Committee looks determined to put Metro Line No. 1 into commercial operation in the fourth quarter of this year.

This information was given in a document from the HCMC government sent to the Ministry of Planning and Investment regarding the adjustment of the operation date of the city’s first urban railway, which links the landmark Ben Thanh Market and Suoi Tien Theme Park.

According to the HCMC People’s Committee’s report, the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien rail line is currently 98% complete. From July to November 2024, the National Committee for Quality Control of Construction Projects will inspect various construction components to ensure the safety of the 20-kilometer rail line.

After the acceptance test and safety assessment of the entire system are done, the line will start commercial service in the fourth quarter of this year.

Metro Line No. 1, one of the eight urban railways the city is working on, has 14 stations, and costs VND43,700 billion.
