HCMC – The headquarters of the State agencies in HCMC and public non-business units throughout the city will be equipped with solar power systems to help ensure energy security and environmental protection as part of the city’s drive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the goal of the Government and the city to develop clean, renewable energy.
Duong Anh Duc, vice chairman of the municipal government, approved the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade’s proposal of setting up the solar power systems, reported Nguoi Lao Dong Online newspaper.
The vice chairman asked the Industry and Trade Department to team up with the city’s Department of Science and Technology, the HCMC Power Corporation, relevant agencies and local authorities citywide to analyze, evaluate and report the outcome of solar power projects carried out over the past period.
The departments and agencies have to focus on issues such as execution methods and procedures, average investment costs, effectiveness, time needed to recoup the investment and the maintenance works of each solar power project financed by the State budget.
Further, they have to conduct thorough analyses on the shortcomings of such projects and survey the sites of agencies set to have the solar power systems in order to propose appropriate and feasible implementation plans, said the vice chairman.
