HCMC – HCMC authorities are considering a project to construct a tunnel beneath Ton Duc Thang Street along the Saigon River.
Ton Duc Thang, one of the oldest avenues in HCMC, has a total length of two kilometers in District 1, connecting Le Duan Boulevard and Khanh Hoi Bridge. This vital route connects the city center with District 4, and Saigon South New Urban Town.
The HCMC Department of Transport has proposed two options for the project. The first option is to build a 765-meter tunnel starting at the foot of the access road to Ba Son Bridge near Ngo Van Nam Street and ending at Khanh Hoi Bridge.
The second option is to build a 683-meter tunnel starting at the foot of the access road to Ba Son Bridge near Ngo Van Nam Street and ending at Nguyen Hue Boulevard.
The first option would need VND1,477 billion while the second option would cost an estimated VND1,359 billion.
