HCMC – The world-renowned city of Hoi An, Quang Nam Province, has started work on the Cau Pagoda Restoration Project.
The project needs an investment of VND20.3 billion, half funded by the northern province of Quang Nam and the Hoi An City People’s Committee.
The investment will be allocated to revamp the building’s foundation, wooden frames, roofs and electrical systems to step up 3D digitalized models of the relics.
The project is slated to be completed in 360 days, consulted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Shimizu Akira, chief of JICA Vietnam, said that Cau Pagoda, or the Japanese Bridge, was a rare construction as a congress of East-West culture symbolizing Hoi An.
The completion of the work will mark the 50-year partnership between Vietnam and Japan in 2023, he added.
