HCMC – Five family members were killed after a fire swept through their house in Di An City of Binh Duong Province last night, August 18.

At around 22:00 last night, neighbors discovered a fire that broke out in the house of Le Dinh A., who ran a grocery store at his house in the city’s Di An Ward. They worked together to put out the fire and reported the incident to the local competent forces, reported Bnews.

On being notified of the situation, firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The forces had to break open the door to rescue five people trapped in the two-story house and sent them to a local medical center for emergency treatment. The house was filled with many groceries and highly flammable items, which were believed to have fueled the fire.

According to local authorities, these five people comprised Le Dinh A., aged 44; his 43-year-old wife Ho Thi L.; their two children Le Thi Hai Y. and Le Gia B., aged 18 and 15, respectively; and their 20-year-old niece Nguyen Thi N.

Three of them died after being hospitalized, while the remaining two were pronounced dead at 4 a.m. today after being transferred to the Binh Duong Provincial General Hospital.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. The house was reportedly built a few months ago.
