HCMC – The adoption of 5G technology across Vietnam’s manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare sectors is encountering hurdles related to costs, security, and a shortage of skilled professionals, according to industry experts.
At a recent seminar in Hanoi, experts underscored the substantial initial investment required to establish 5G infrastructure, including the deployment of base stations and advanced technology integration.
This financial burden has proven particularly challenging for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), limiting their ability to adopt 5G solutions.
While 5G technology promises enhanced connectivity and efficiency, it also increases the vulnerability of critical infrastructure to cyberattacks. Experts emphasized the need for comprehensive cybersecurity measures and proactive strategies to address potential risks.
A shortage of skilled professionals has further complicated the integration of 5G into industrial applications. Participants also pointed to gaps in expertise in areas such as 5G network architecture, cybersecurity, and the application of 5G technology in specific industries.
To overcome these challenges, Vietnamese telcos are exploring innovative pricing models to make 5G adoption more affordable. Some firms are also collaborating to create tailored 5G solutions designed to meet the unique needs of different sectors.
The Government is actively promoting partnerships between telecommunications companies, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions to facilitate a smoother transition to 5G.
